This page is an overview of what is currently
happening with regards to Ballot Measure 37 (2004)as it is being
legislated, litigated, debated and modified within Oregon.
Legislation:
Two major bills regarding Measure 37 are (or were) being presented to legislature
during the 2007 session. They are HB 3540 B-Engrossed and HB 3546
B-Engrossed.
Both bills can be found by clicking on
HB 3450 B-Engrossed or
HB 3456 B-Engrossed.
HB 3546 B-Engrossed was signed into law by Governor
Kulongoski on May 10th, 2007 and took effect immediately. It effectively places a moratorium on processing Measure 37
Claims filed on or after November 1, 2006, by adding an additional 360
days to time already allowed (180 days) to process your claim by both the State and
whatever other government entity (e.g. Clackamas County, Metro, City of
Tigard, etc.) a Measure 37 Claim has been filed with.
HB 3450 C-Engrossed is still pending in the Legislature.
It has been referred from the Joint
Ways and Means Committee with a "Do Pass" recommendation. The bill
will now go back to the House where it needs 31 votes to pass and get
sent to the Senate.
Please check back here often for an update on the status
of HB 3540 C-Engrossed.
You can also check to see if it has been calendared for
